Mr. Obermeder and his wife Margitta founded the first Hansel and Gretel store in 1974 as a small coffee, nut and confectionary retail outlet, themed on a Gingerbread House in the fairytale “Hansel and Gretel”.

The key to the success of this small family business are its boutique Coffee, masterfully roasted by Manfred Obermeder, freshly roasted Nuts and the best selection of local and imported Confectionery, as well as an unsurpassed dedication to the customer. These were the all important factors for our success, and they are adhered to - to this day.
